Adele Hauser is a mixed media artist based in Austin, Texas. Her work intertwines portraiture and quilt-making, combining fabric collage with drawing and painting. Rarely leaving a private setting, her work is tied closely with home life. She received her BFA from the University of Texas Austin.
Secret Places are the spaces we inhabit by ourselves, where no one else can be invited. It is the second before you fall asleep or a lost thought remembered. The squishy-ness of your favorite pillow; the face you make in mirror when no one is looking; the words you whisper in your dog’s ear. The secrets we don’t even know are secrets at all. Through bits and pieces, the artist meditates on the space between she and them creating fiber-rooted collage works.
