Last summer a group of industrious artists were driving around America hosting pop-up creative placemaking events in different cities. A stoke of lucky encounters connected us with these guys just as they were rolling into town, and lucky for them we were hosting a volunteer day with 24 middle schoolers the next day that we thought would love to learn about hammock making and using art to enhance the public realm.

Check out the video they created featuring The Union and the rest of the cities they visited at www.whatisdrive.com

The UNION for Contemporary Art is committed to strengthening the creative culture of the greater Omaha area by providing direct support to artists and advancing the understanding of contemporary art forms through education. We dropped into The Union through a string of serendipity over the course of 6 hours. We didn't have a place to stay at 4pm , and by 12pm we were booked to teach a class on making hammocks from off-spec safety vest material for 24 middle schoolers volunteering at The Union. We are so impressed by how generous and amazing Omaha is!
