Kids' work, fresh from the kiln.

Kjell Peterson transfers screen-printed glaze onto a clay vessel

Artist & Co-op member Cynthia Gehrie examines a screen print in progress

2015 has been a busy year in the co-op studios! We've had several successful kiln firings that produced some great work from our members and from our Saturday morning kids' classes.  Kjell Peterson, our resident clay expert, has begun experimentation with screen printing glazes on clay pieces and will be teaching a workshop on the topic on Saturday, February 28th at 3:30.  RSVP to reserve your spot!  Kjell is in the Clay Studio every Tuesday and Thursday nights from 5:30-8:00 to assist our members with any questions.

The Print Studio is buzzing with excitement.  Our newest piece of equipment, a Mercury Exposure unit, is up and running! This thing burns beautiful, crisp screens every time.  It was generously donated to us and our members have been putting it to great use.  This month, work has been printed on paper and fabric.  There's even been some flocking of prints! It's been a blast seeing artists creating work in the shop. Our next print workshop: Screen Printing 101 takes place Thursday, March 19th. RSVP to reserve your spot!

Things are happening in the Film Studio too!  A member donated a very nice Leedal film drying cabinet to our shop. This will keep your negatives dry, straight and dust free.  Janelle Jurgens, our film specialist, ran an exciting workshop on building your own pinhole camera last month. Her next workshop, using your film camera, takes place on Thursday, February 26th.  Janelle is in the Film Studio every Wednesday and Thursday from 5:30-7:30 to help out with any questions/projects.

If any members need help in the Print studio, I am usually available during open hours.  Please contact me if you'd like to schedule some one on one time.
