Having been given the opportunity to participate in the Union for Contemporary Art Fellowship program, I was able to begin my studio practice in Omaha with a fresh start after recently moving here from Brooklyn, NY. The Union Fellowship has been a great opportunity to have a creative space for making sculptures and ceramic work outside of my home studio. I could really make a mess in my studio at the Union! After moving to Omaha my house and studio were all in boxes, so the fellowship was a fresh start!
Being a Union Fellow has also been a great way for me to meet other artists from the Omaha area. I love the community that the fellowship provides, with our monthly studio visits (including other Union fellows) and our Northern Omaha Community service projects. Working in the Co-Op space during Co-Op hours, and meeting the Union's creative and enthusiastic members & Staff is inspiring and a great way for a new transplant to meet new people!
