As part of the F+W14 Fellows Group exhibition, Union Fellows Danny Sullivan and Luke Polipnick will both be presenting sonic performances based on work they created throughout the duration of their Fellowship.
While a Union Fellow, Danny has been delving into sculpture/sound/performance work. He has embedded microphones in blocks of cast concrete that run through amplifiers. These objects pick up on subtle vibrations and end up absorbing the sounds they generate, creating a droning wall of noise. He set the objects up on a platform and then interacts with, eventually becoming part of the piece as well. This work is purely experimental, in the sense that he has been able to connect his interest in sound art with the likes of sculpture and performance.
While always diverse in his musical practice, Luke Polipnick extended himself into writing more folk and electronic-based songs while in Fellowship with us.
