The Union for Contemporary Art is proud to partner with Omaha Zine Fest on a series of workshops leading up to Omaha Zine Fest. In this workshop participants will discuss the importance of local media and representation, practice basic interviewing skills, pitch story ideas, and outline one story concept for further development. Storytelling is essential to the development and preservation of a community. By learning journalistic principles and story techniques, community members can capture the tales of their neighborhoods and galvanize relationships.

REMINDER: Every Thursday, The Union's Youth program hosts Youth Open Studios. Young artists ages 5-15 are invited to participate in self-directed studio time from 4-8pm. Come paint, draw, read, play games, or do homework in a fun environment. Participants can create projects inspired by our exhibitions with guidance from staff who will introduce a new project each week. Cost is FREE and no advanced sign up is required. Participation is capped at 15, on a first-come-first served basis.
Youth Open Studios was established to reduce barriers to participation in our Thursday Co-Op workshops for adults, creating an opportunity for young people to engage in hands-on art-making while their parents or guardians do the same. For more information, visit u-ca.org/youth.
