This workshop will be a demonstration on how to make a chemigram through the photo process. A chemigram is a camera-less process in which a substrate is applied to light-sensitive paper that is used as a resistant to hold back the chemical effects of black and white developer and fixer. By rotating the paper through developer and fixer in multiple baths, the substrate will periodically be removed from the paper, resulting in an image that can be colorful and rich in tonality.

REMINDER: Every Thursday, The Union's Youth program hosts Youth Open Studios. Young artists ages 5-15 are invited to participate in self-directed studio time from 4-8pm. Come paint, draw, read, play games, or do homework in a fun environment. Participants can create projects inspired by our exhibitions with guidance from staff who will introduce a new project each week. Cost is FREE and no advanced sign up is required. Participation is capped at 15, on a first-come-first served basis.

Youth Open Studios was established to reduce barriers to participation in our Thursday Co-Op workshops for adults, creating an opportunity for young people to engage in hands-on art-making while their parents or guardians do the same. For more information, visit u-ca.org/youth
