Now Hiring: Youth Studios Assistant

OVERVIEW

The Union is hiring a part-time Youth Studios Assistant to support the growth of our youth engagement programs. Our programs offer free creative experiences to youth living in North Omaha, ranging from the visual and performing arts to urban agriculture and cooking.

Reporting to our Youth Studios Manager, this position is highly collaborative and requires the ability to work well with youth, teaching artists, parents, and Union team. The successful candidate will be an organized and engaging asset to our youth studios with a demonstrated interest in art education, youth development work, and youth-led programs.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES.

  • Facilitate student learning, growth, and play through positive interactions and supervision
  • Take the lead on program preparations and classroom set-up, including preparation of art materials and food
  • Assist with keeping the classroom clean, organized, and maintained
  • Provide robust program support during youth core programming and other events as they arise (this could include school visits, field trips, parent engagement, and school outreach)
  • Engage with guardians, students, and teaching artists in a positive and supportive manner
  • Provide mentorship and support to students
  • Facilitate youth program workshops and activities as needed
  • Assist with administrative duties as needed


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Enthusiasm for working with diverse populations (i.e. race, age, class, gender expression, sexual orientation, ethnicity, etc.)
  • Demonstrated experience in classroom management
  • Ability to execute and implement tasks as directed
  • Ability to assist/lead workshops in a variety of art disciplines
  • Skilled in creating a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment for youth and their families
  • Capable of performing in non-traditional classroom settings
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with a proven ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities, plan ahead, anticipate and articulate program needs
  • Ability to problem-solve, remain flexible, and be imaginative in working with young people and responding to their needs
  • Collaborative and flexible with strong interpersonal skills and a positive attitude


SCHEDULE*

Part-time. Approx. 20 hours / week

Tuesday: 1–8pm
Thursday: 3–8pm
Saturday: 9am–5pm

*Please note, this schedule is based on programming needs. Availability during these times is required to be considered for this position. Schedule, while not anticipated, is subject to change based on programming needs.

PAY RATE $15/hour + select paid holidays off
