Although I have little experience working with youth I hope to make a noticeable impact on their lives. My art is almost entirely inspired by music and how it makes me feel. I usually create with clay, colored pencil, and oil pastel. When I compose music, it is heavily inspired by artists like Alex G. and Bob Dylan.
With my art, I try to portray oppression in the LGBTQ community and within my household. It can be hard to put things into words, but with art you never have to worry about whether someone understands you or not.
While working here I hope to teach youth how to express themselves through art and find their voice.
If you were a crayon, what color would you be? Why?
I would want to be a black crayon because the color black is always the safest and reliable color, which I strive to be as a person.
Who inspires you?
I am inspired a lot by the music of Radiohead and Alex G. Their music is at times chaotic and unapologetic, sounds that I think capture my desire to be free.
What is your favorite quote or motto?
"I contain multitudes." - Walt Whitman
I love this quote because to me it means I am everything I have experienced, everything that I have lived, and everything that is a part of me.
