Kim (Peer Mentor)

Meet Kim

Kim is a peer mentor at The Union for Contemporary Art. They have always loved sharing creative spaces with other young artists, curating Teenline art shows, and leading activities for youth of all ages. Their experience working at a summer camp for children with disabilities and neuro-diverse backgrounds has prepared them to engage youth creatively, and address a variety of needs. Kim’s personal art practice has been inspired by experience & music, as well as unique artists like Salvador Dalí. She sees art as a way to express emotions, offering both comfort and support; to challenge perceptions and inspire change. Color plays an important role in Kim’s work, often beginning a piece with the pallet, allowing the subject to emerge later. During her time at The Union, Kim hopes to provide a safe place to inspire youth and challenge ideas; something they craved as a younger kid.
