My project, Verge, is a public meal served on the land that borders every American highway. Here we re-imagine this neglected wild space as a refuge.

About the Artist

Lee Emma Running is an artist based in Omaha NE who creates monumental public installations on windows, and arresting objects using cast iron, enamel, glass, and bone. For the last 15 years, she has been using this work to engage audiences in conversations about the impact of human-built systems on the natural world.

She was a 2023 Foundry Resident in the Arts/Industry program at Kohler and a 2022/23 Artist in Residence with Opera Omaha. Permanent installations of her work can be viewed at the Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs, the Bernheim Arboretum, and Upper Iowa University. Her work has been featured in exhibitions at the Des Moines Art Center, National Taiwan University of the Arts, Form and Concept Gallery, and PACE Gallery, Council Bluffs. She has been awarded residencies at Ucross, Jentel, Santa Fe Art Institute, and Pine Meadow Ranch Center for Arts and Agriculture.
