Mildred D. Brown Special Fellowship

The Union is excited to announce another opportunity to present new work emphasizing the importance of community engagement and collaboration in the waning days of COVID-19.

In partnership with The Omaha STAR, The Union is proud to announce the first ever Mildred D. Brown Special Fellowship for Journalism and the Investigative Arts. Mildred D. Brown was a pioneer in journalism and community engagement and her legacy lives on at The Omaha STAR, the oldest surviving Black run newspaper in Nebraska. The Fellowship is designed to continue Mildred’s groundbreaking work by cultivating young artists of color interested in the fields of journalism, investigative reporting, community engagement, and non-fiction artistic works.
