The Union for Contemporary Art strengthens the cultural and social landscape of our community by using the arts as a vehicle to inspire positive social change. We are currently seeking a passionate and self-motivated individual to join our team to manage our Co-Op Studios program.
We use the term “social change” as a broad umbrella to encompass a range of social and civic outcomes from increased awareness and understanding, to attitudinal change and increased civic participation. POSITION Co-Op Studios Manager + Ceramics Tech
DIRECT REPORTS: Print & Design Manager + Contracted Teaching Artists
REPORTS TO: Programs Director
The Co-Op Studios Manager + Ceramics Tech is responsible for all aspects of Co-Op programming. This position serves as the main contact for all Co-Op Teaching Artists, Co-Op Passholders, and community partners in Co-Op-specific programming. This position also oversees and develops Co-Op workshops, which are reflective of The Union's dual commitment to contemporary art and social justice. The Co-Op Manager works to strengthen membership and community experiences in our studios, while being responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of equipment and supplies.
As Ceramics Studio Tech, this role is also responsible for assisting in the operation and maintenance of an instructional ceramic studio. This includes maintenance of equipment and supplies, regular kiln firing, mixing glazes, and studio cleaning.
COMMITMENT This is a full-time, exempt salaried position. The Union strives to be a human-first organization. We work on a 32-hour work week. This position allows for the employee to determine if 4 workdays at 8 hours or 5 workdays at 6.5 hours is best for them.

COMPENSATION $66,000 annual salary, health/dental/vision benefits with The Union covering 80% of employee and family premiums, accrued PTO, 6 paid holidays including a paid winter holiday break from Christmas Eve to New Year’s Day, 56 hours mental health/sick days, 40 hours paid volunteer service hours, Employee Assistance Program, $25,000 employer-paid life insurance policy, and 401k with automatic, fully-vested 3% employer contribution.
The Union will also reimburse a portion of moving expenses for relocation to Omaha, Nebraska, if needed.
Essential Job Responsibilities (Co-Op Studios Manager)
-Serve as the main liaison for all Co-Op Passholders clearly communicating processes, workshop schedules, policy and building updates.
-Maintain clean, safe, and accessible Co-Op Studios with working equipment and clear processes.
-Manage Co-Op workshop and Passholder registration processes including adding events to Altru or other registration platforms, administering payments and refunds, and collaborating with Communications Manager to promote Co-Op events.
-Work with the Programs Director to evaluate Co-Op Studios programming and community experiences.
-Recruit and manage a diverse roster of teaching artists, including their training, orientation, invoicing and performance assessment.
-Develop workshops that address multiple levels of ability and build programs that thoughtfully engage with current Union programming and content.
-Assist in the development and management of community partner Co-Op Studio use.
-Assist with the creation of budgets and fundraising activities in support of the Co-Op Studios program.
-Other duties as assigned.
Essential Job Responsibilities (Ceramics Tech)
-Mix 3 studio glazes using provided recipes
-Maintain storage space in the studio and overall cleanliness
-Provide one-on-one instruction to Co-Op Passholders.
-Keep the ceramics studio clean and organized
-Fire ceramic work for Co-Op Passholders
-Lead workshops for artists, community members, and youth
-Assist with equipment maintenance and ensure it is being used properly
-Track inventory of expendable materials
