Zoey (Peer Mentor)

Meet Zoey

My name is Zoey and I am a first time peer mentor at the Union for Contemporary Art. I am so excited to start my journey guiding young artists and learning some new things myself! I love exploring art and mediums to their fullest extent, this exploration has allowed me to find a unique style and medium for me that I can express myself authentically through. I often utilize various tools and mediums for texture, space, and depth. I love using pallet knives, paint scrapers, sometimes I layer paper, or cheesecloth. Really anything! I see art as a space that expression has no barriers in. I can send any message or express a feeling freely. I also see it as a space where we can each see into a new perspective, and understand each other better. During my time at the Union, I hope to foster as much creative freedom & expression as possible!

Who inspires you?

So many women artists. Helen Frankenthaler has been a recent inspiration for me.

If you could be any animal, what would it be? Why?

I would be a dolphin so I can swim all day tbh
