Maranda Allbritten + Tom McCauley

Originally from Western Kentucky, Maranda Allbrittengraduated with a BFA in Printmaking from Murray State University and continued on to Nebraska where she received her MFA in Printmaking from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Upon completion of her MFA, Maranda was interim this, adjunct that, and jobless in between, but eventually found herself speeding up I-70 back to Nebraska.

Maranda has been a resident at the Jentel Artist Residency Program in Banner, Wyoming and at the Lux Center for the Arts in Lincoln, NE. She was recently nominated for the Artist Residency Pilot Program at the Brush Creek Foundation for the Arts in Saratoga, Wyoming, and is the current Youth & Family Programs Manager at Joslyn Art Museum in Omaha.

Tom McCauley lives in Omaha, where he writes poetry and fiction, edits the literary journal, Strange Machine, curates the Strange Machine reading series, plays guitar for the Answer Team and writes grants for the City of Omaha Mayor’s Office. Additionally, Tom volunteers at the Literacy Center for the Midlands, teaching adults basic reading skills. He graduated with his BFA in Creative Writing with a minor in Communications, studied poetry on a fellowship at the Juniper Summer Writer’s Conference at the University of Massachusettes-Amherst, and has been nominated for a Pushcart Prize. His first manuscript, All Day Devouring Conundrum Pie is forthcoming. He won a Nebraska State Press Association Award for his column, “Told You So.”

During their fellowship, Tom and Miranda will collaborate on a project creating handmade, letterpress art books that combine text and image in an intuitive response to, and investigation of, the contemporary and historical forces that shape North Omaha.
